On another day 另外一天
When the little boy had opened 小男孩已經自己會
The door from the outside all by himself, 開外面的門進來教室
The teacher said: 老師說﹕
"Today we are going to make something with clay." “我們今天要玩黏土”
"Good!" thought the little boy; “太好了﹗”小男孩心裡想
He liked clay. 他很喜歡黏土
He could make all kinds of things with clay: 他可以用黏土做出很多東西
Snakes and snowmen, 蛇、雪人
Elephants and mice, 大象、老鼠
Cars and trucks 車、卡車
And he began to pull and pinch 他開始捏黏土
His ball of clay. 變成一個球
But the teacher said, "Wait!" 但是老師說﹕“等一下﹗”
"It is not time to begin!" “還不能開始﹗”
And she waited until everyone looked ready. 她等到大家都準備好了
"Now," said the teacher, 她說﹕“好﹗現在開始﹗”
"We are going to make a dish." “我們今天要做一個盤子”
"Good!" thought the little boy, “太好了﹗”小男孩心裡想
He liked to make dishes. 他很喜歡做盤子
And he began to make some 他開始做
That were all shapes and sizes. 很多形狀和大小的盤子
But the teacher said "Wait!" 但是老師說﹕“等一下﹗”
"And I will show you how." “讓我告訴你們怎麼做”
And she showed everyone how to make 她開始教大家怎麼做
One deep dish. 一個很深的盤子
"There," said the teacher, “像這樣”老師說
"Now you may begin." “你們可以開始了”
The little boy looked at the teacher's dish; 小男孩看了看老師的盤子
Then he looked at his own. 再看了看他自己的盤子
He liked his better than the teacher's 他比較喜歡自己的盤子
But he did not say this. 但是他沒有說出口
He just rolled his clay into a big ball again 他只是把他的黏土揉成了一個球
And made a dish like the teacher's. 做了個跟老師一樣的盤子
It was a deep dish. 一個很深的盤子
And pretty soon 很快的
The little boy learned to wait, 小男孩學會了等待
And to watch 學會了看
And to make things just like the teacher. 學會了做出和老師一樣的東西
And pretty soon 很快的
He didn't make things of his own anymore. 他不做自己的東西了
